What Does Sports Therapy Treat?

Sports Therapy covers a wide range of conditions and ailments concerning the whole body. Below is a brief list of some of the common conditions that sports therapists are trained to diagnose and treat.

If you are unsure if your symptoms/condition can be treated by a Sports Therapist, then please feel free to contact us via our ‘contact us’ tab with a brief description of the symptoms.

Conditions we treat include:

  • Golfers/Tennis Elbow
  • Shin splints
  • Damaged tendons
  • Torn/Damaged ligaments
  • Pre/Post Operative Rehab
  • Knee Injuries
  • Shoulder Injuries
  • Achilles pain
  • Ankle Sprains
What can I expect on my First Visit?

All initial appointments require an assessment of the problem and surrounding area.

Following your assessment, our sports therapist will discuss with you the diagnosis of your injury, in addition to the goals you will work towards together and your treatment plan. This initial appointment will usually include your first treatment. Your second and subsequent appointments will consist of your treatment, a discussion of your progress and any direction for home exercises given.

Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and bring shorts with you. Depending on the location of your injury or massage you may be required to remove some items of clothing.

During massage, clients are covered with a towel and only the part of the body being worked on is exposed.

Injury rehab sessions may require a posture analysis or a study of a particular joints biomechanics, e.g. observing your knee as you walk.

*If you are unsure of what to wear or bring with you please contact us prior to your appointment.

Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.

It utilises the principles of sport and exercise sciences incorporating physiological and pathological processes to prepare the participant for training, competition and where applicable, work.
